DESIGN QUESTION

Background

How might we use the resources sustainably by providing a shared ecosystem for sharing used goods and services?

India is the leading importer of used clothes in 2019. There are changes in the behavior and attitudes of people in India towards buying goods. People are moving towards sharing economy as it is flexible, saves money, and is sustainable. This project is an attempt to create a shared and organized ecosystem for users for the resale of resources. 

Outcome

Camcart is a mobile application designed for college students to facilitate a shared environment.

PRODUCT JOURNEY

The project started with the core idea of creating a shared ecosystem in college for sharing used goods among the college community to promote sustainability. Initial desk research into the domain highlighted the critical issue numerous students face today. Through further analysis and opportunity identification, a solution was created and detailed. The following document elaborates on each of these steps.

To understand the importance of the resale market industry, technical advancements in this area of desktop research are performed.
Surveys
Surveys
45 survey responses are captured across colleges to get the users to understand the user trends, attitudes, and experiences related to resale goods.
Semi-Interview
Semi- Structured Interviews
Interviewed people of the age group of 18 to 30 with the goal to understand the shopping experiences, frustrations, problems faced by the users regarding the resale goods.
KEY INSIGHTS

Exchange within Vicinity

61.7% of the respondents donate or sell goods to the same locality people( Juniors).

Trust on products

People trust more on posts with more images and information about them.

Accountability

88.2% of the respondents fail to return the goods they leased and they needed a followups

Lengthy process

65% of the respondents do not have the patience to go through the entire process of selling the used goods. Presently available platforms are not user friendly

Leasing products

78.7% juniors ask friends or seniors for used goods like apron and ED kit and give them back after use

This is the landing page that appears after opening the app, showing the
newly added products available for rent or sale.

Users can explore the product they want to buy or rent. Every detail of the product is given along with 360 degrees view, an option to check whether it suits your environment, and go for negotiation.

After selecting the pictures of the product you want to sell, the users fill in these details.
Suggestions are also given to the users regarding the product price they need to keep.

Before searching for the products, the user can filter the products based on the type of purchase he goes through, i.e., rent or buys. To prevent the overlapping of dates during purchase, calendar management is done.
